SAMPLING

Sampling and analysis of the marine fuel as regards the sulphur content

Sampling and analysis of the marine fuel being used on board is performed pursuant to the Article 7 of the Rules on the monitoring of physical and chemical properties of liquid fuels (Official Gazzette n. 76/2011, 56/2014 and 35/2018) and the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2015/253 of 16 February 2015 laying down the rules concerning the sampling and reporting under Council Directive 1999/32/EC as regards the sulphur content of marine fuel. SGS Slovenija d.o.o. has been mandated to perform monitoring for the period 2018 and 2019.

Legal basis for the payment of costs for sampling and analysis

The Slovenian Maritime Administration may require the shipowner pursuant to the Article 7 of the Rules on the monitoring of physical and chemical properties of liquid fuels, to deliver the sealed bunker samples to the company mandated to perform monitoring. The Slovenian Maritime Administration is liable for payment of the costs for the analysis of samples to the company mandated to perform monitoring.

In case of positive analysis result (when the prescribed limit is exceeded) the ship owners or their ship agents have to reimburse the Slovenian Maritime Administration for all costs of the analysis.
